Still it is important to understand what you need to do, should an injury or damage occur, especially as timing is essential.
The first thing you need to know is that you must file the claim as soon as you are know of a loss, meaning that there is a claim or is likely to be one. This is part of the reporting clause in most insurance policies, which you need to be familiar with. The sooner you report, the greater your chances of not missing the time limit.
In order to file the claim, you need to first get all the necessary information about the accident. You need to be very specific so the matter can be resolved as efficiently as possible, and hopefully quickly, too.
Included in your liability insurance claim should be information about where, when and how the accident took place. Details about the person who was injured, including name and address, as well as the name and address of any witnesses must also be reported.
Besides just this basic information about the accident and the injured, paperwork connected with the lawsuit or claim also needs to be given to the insurance company right away. These might include legal papers, notices, demands or summonses. You also need to give the insurance agency the authorization to get information connected with the case.
When you have given all the appropriate information, the case will be considered. From that point on, you must comply with any requests made by the insurance company. Failure to do this, or provide the necessary documents and information makes it very likely that your claim will be rejected, leaving you to pay for legal fees and any winnings on your own.
